Chocolate Cookie Recipe

Chocolate Cookie Recipe

Chocolate cookies for cookie cutters? Absolutely! Not only is it possible, they are easy and delicious.

Pay close attention to the technique in this recipe. Unlike a vanilla sugar cookie, this cookie dough will be sticky and need chilling before you cut out your shapes.

This recipe is modified from a Sugarbelle recipe, not currently on her blog.

I made these once before and it was amazing. It’s been years though, so my quesuon is, was it always with the ultra dark chocolate powder? Can’t remember. Is that the best one to buy for this recipe? Thanks!

The Cookie Countess replied:
So glad you love this recipe, Carrie! Yes, we always recommended the ultra dark cocoa powder for that delicious brownie-like flavor, but if you don’t have or can’t get Genie’s Dream Cocoa No. 3, you can use any other high-quality cocoa powder. Happy baking!

I only used 3 cups of flour and they were super dry and tasted mostly like flour. I think I would remake this recipe with 2 1/2 or even 2 cups. Not sure what happened. I had all the ingredients on hand so it was easy for my daughter and I to whip up on a rainy afternoon!

Excited to try this recipe… Do you find it stales quickly?

The Cookie Countess replied:
Not any faster than a normal sugar cookie, no.

This is an awesome recipe, we’ve made it twice this halloween season, about to make another batch for christmas today

Can you use light corn syrup?
———
The Cookie Countess replied:
Hi Laura! This recipe uses dark corn syrup because of the molasses it contains. You could definetly try to make it with light corn syrup, I would just recommend adding in a little tiny bit of molasses to even everything out.
